The 23rd Annual Symposium of The Protein Society will feature an outstanding program that is being organized by the co-chairs, Celia Schiffer (University of Massachusetts Medical School) and David Eliezer (Weill Medical College of Cornell University).  The meeting theme is Proteins in Motion.  All events will take place at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.

Two Plenary Sessions will be featured on the topics of “Dynamics and Thermodynamics” and “Allostery.” The 2009 Society Awards will be presented in two Awards Plenary Sessions, and awardees will present plenary lectures. Scientific sessions will address folding, design, trafficking, membrane remodeling, therapeutics and targets, dynamics of protein nucleic acid interactions, disorder, drug resistance, cytoskeleton dynamics, dynamic complexes and networks, signaling, and translocation and transport.

The Symposium will open on Saturday, July 25 with two morning and two afternoon concurrent symposia. The first of two Awards Plenary Sessions will take place on Saturday evening, with the Opening Reception immediately following.  Join us at the Opening Reception to network and socialize with your colleagues. The Awards Banquet will take place on Tuesday evening following the second Awards Plenary Session. The Symposium will conclude on Wednesday, July 29 at noon.

The Symposium offers young investigators excellent opportunities for their submitted abstracts to be selected for recognition and presentation, which can facilitate career and networking prospects. Ten abstracts from graduate and undergraduate students will be selected for Poster Awards, and four undergraduate abstracts will be selected for oral presentations in the Undergraduate Research Session. Sixteen abstracts submitted by young investigators will be selected for oral presentations during scientific sessions. Abstracts will be published in a supplement to Protein Science.

The 23rd Annual Symposium will again feature The Protein Society Graduate Program Fair. This popular event caters to students who are interested in pursuing training and careers in protein science. Students will have the opportunity to interact with representatives from institutions with graduate programs that register to participate in the fair. New features being introduced this year include a Munch & Mingle Reception, Breakout Sessions, and a Student/Postdoc Lounge.

We hope you will join us for an exceptional scientific symposium in Boston.
