TPS President-Past Charles L. Brooks III Awarded ACS Award for Computers in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Research --- Press Release

Canyon Country, CA – August 26, 2019 –  Dr. Charles L. Brooks III, the Protein Society's President Pastwas awarded the ACS Award for Computers in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Research. The award is sponsored by the ACS Division of Computers in Chemistry and Dr. Brooks will be honored at the ACS Spring National Meeting in Philadelphia on March 24, 2020.  


This recognition is given to scientists who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the use of computers in research, development, or education in the chemical and biological sciences.


Dr. Books expressed his gratitude for the award: “I was very pleased and elated to be recognized by the ACS and the Computers in Chemistry Division with this honor. I am humbled to follow the previous award winners.”

Charles L. Brooks III, President-Past of The Protein Society, is a Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis Professor of Chemistry and Cyrus Levinthal Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry and Biophysics at the University of Michigan. His research interests include protein structure, function and folding studied with molecular simulations; small-molecule – protein interactions; protein-protein interactions; the role of pH in modulating protein and nucleic acid structure and function; RNA and DNA structure, function, dynamics, and folding. In 2012, The Protein Society awarded Charles L. Brooks III the prestigious Hans Neurath Award for his contributions of unusual merit to basic research in the field of protein science. ###
