Attendance at our symposia presents a valuable opportunity for early-career protein scientists. The Protein Society is committed to supporting the participation of junior scientists from diverse backgrounds and individuals who work to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our field.
Our newly introduced Diversity Awards include two years of society membership, a 2021 symposium registration waiver, and abstract submission fee reimbursement or waiver.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students, postbaccalaureate students/research assistants, graduate students, and postdocs from any institution; junior faculty from minority-serving institutions. Protein Society membership is not required to apply.
Application instructions: The information you provide here will be used only for the determination of Diversity Awards. Submitting this form does not qualify as symposium registration or abstract submission for the annual meeting, which you will need to complete separately. Award recipients will be reimbursed for the cost of meeting registration and abstract submission. If you are selected as an award winner before registering and/or submitting your abstract, a complimentary registration code will be provided to you.
Submission deadlines: Awards will be made on a rolling basis. Applicants who apply before May 15 will receive notification before May 29, in advance of the registration refund and poster abstract submission deadline of June 1. Applications received after May 15 will be considered subject to award availability. Note that in order to be considered for an oral presentation, you must submit your abstract (not your award application) by April 30.
Many awards are available and we encourage you to apply!
